About Us
Hello and Welcome to Our nursery, Little Cheeky Monkeys, our nursery has been specifically designed to ensure that the personal, social, 
emotional and educational needs of every child are met to a high standard. We have 3 rooms, Each one is devised into different areas so that materials and equipment can be used to support the themes, principles, and commitments of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
As a team, we are dedicated to promoting a happy, loving, enthusiastic and positive environment in which the children can play learn and develop. This is reflected in our current ‘OUTSTANDING’ Ofsted inspection in which we were awarded an ‘OUTSTANDING’ grade.
How it All began
“I had been made redundant and was seeking employment I couldn’t find good quality childcare for my daughter to fit in with any vacancies that I applied for, what could I do?”
After spending weeks searching for childcare and visiting various nurseries in the area I couldn’t find what I was looking for, then one evening I was sitting at home with my daughter and thought to myself why not set up a nursery of my very own. I knew what I wanted for my child (The Best) perhaps I could offer other parents the same opportunity!
In April 2002 I began to do lots of research and realised that this was not just a dream, I could really do this, so with lots of hard work, plenty of stress, and a few grey hairs later Little Cheeky Monkeys Day Nursery was opened on the 10th February 2003. Little Cheeky Monkeys was situated on Orchard street in Great Harwood it was registered for forty children, although quite spacious inside, outdoor space was very limited which was a concern (remedied by plenty of trips to the local park).
The business grew from strength to strength and after almost 3 years it became obvious that the nursery was just too small to meet the demands of the community, I needed to find bigger premises.
After lots of searching a new site was found, and on the weekend of the 18th November 2005, the big move took place.
Little Cheeky Monkeys moved to Great Harwood Lodge, Edward Street, Great Harwood, BB6 7JB. Formerly a nursing home that had been converted to a 60 place nursery, set in it’s own grounds it was much more spacious and to the staff’s relief and the benefit of the children it had two separate outdoor play areas, the site’s potential was excellent.
I wanted the best for the children, what was once a dream is no longer, Little Cheeky Monkeys is still going from strength to strength.
We feel that a good relationship with parental involvement and partnership working is essential to the running of the nursery.
To accommodate this we operate an open door policy so that parents can come and talk to us about anything anytime, even outside normal nursery hours.
We prefer an appointment system when parents come to view the setting or enrolling a child. This is so that there is a member of management available to spend time showing you around and so that there is no disruption to the children, however, we are more than willing to show you around at any time if that’s what you prefer, just use the form on our Contact us Page.
